28 Things About Me

Today, I turned 28 years old! I know sometimes people get upset about getting older, but for me, it is just another year of opportunities. But, first of all, I just want to thank everyone for their support of my new blog. I have been wanting to start this blog for so long, but my nerves always got in the way. So, having all of your support means so much! Being a new blogger, I thought it would be fun to give you all a little more of a glimpse into my life, and share 28 things about me on my 28th birthday.

  1. I have one sibling, a younger brother, that is now married..which yes, does make me feel old! But, it’s alright because his wife is amazing 🙂
  2. I lived in Indiana for 27 years, until I moved about this time last year to North Carolina.
  3. My favorite place to visit (that I can drive to) is Charleston, South Carolina. If I could go every weekend, I would!
  4. I love to workout. I taught Zumba for about 5 years, but had to stop because my knees aren’t the best. 🙁
  5. My new fitness obsession is hot yoga, but I’m not flexible at all.
  6. The most beautiful place I have every visited is Santorini. We went there for our honeymoon and I couldn’t get enough.
  7. Whenever I am stressed, I grind my teeth in my sleep …sorry Alex.
  8. I would live in workout clothes all day, every day, if it were acceptable.
  9. I went to grad school and got my Master’s Degree in Communication.
  10. My pet peeve is rude people-just be nice everyone. 😉
  11. I try to eat healthy on a daily basis. My go to foods are: chicken, turkey and salad..lots and lots of salad.
  12. But, my weakness is peanut butter and chocolate. My favorite thing to do is to get a spoon full of peanut butter and put chocolate chips on it.
  13. Growing up, my parents had a tradition on Christmas where they would always put little Hersey kisses down the stairs that my brother and I would race to pick up as we would go down to open our presents. One of the sweetest things that Alex’s family did for me was on the first Christmas I spent with them without my family, they surprised me and had Hersey kisses going down the steps for me. It truly made me feel like family.
  14. Another tradition my family has…we have a lot of them..is that every birthday my Dad would always make pancakes for us. And this morning for my birthday, Alex continued the tradition for me. 🙂 However, I will have to say that the most effort that was ever put into continuing this tradition was when Alex’s family and I were in Menorca, Spain during my 26th birthday and his brother actually made pancakes from scratch for me since there was no pancake mix there. If you haven’t grasped it by now, his family is pretty amazing.
  15. I love surprises. I love surprising people and love being surprised.
  16. Alex and I just bought our first home together back in April and we absolutely love it!
  17. Alex and I want to be parents soon…dog parents that is ;). We both had golden retrievers growing up, so that is the dog we plan on eventually getting.
  18. I am horrible at doing my own hair. I get impatient every time I try to do anything with it.
  19. Unfortunately, I am a really picky eater. It is the thing I am most self-conscious about and something I try to work on.
  20. I’m terrified of needles and if I never had to get another shot again in my life, I’d be just fine with that. Funny story: the first couple weeks at my job back in Indianapolis, we had a nurse come to our office to do a health assessment. Through doing this assessment, we would get a discount on our health insurance. However, no one told me there would be needles involved. So, I went in there and had to get some blood taken and about fainted! The poor nurse was trying to get out of there and I was her last employee she had to get through, and instead of me being easy and her getting to leave…she had to basically babysit me as I put my head between my legs (in a dress, mind you..super classy), and tried not to faint. Eventually, I got over myself and she finally got me out of her room. Then, I got to go back to my desk drenched in sweat for the rest of the day. Awesome first impression on everyone, I’m sure.
  21. I’m really bad about buying things for myself. I would rather just throw it into savings.
  22. I can’t take naps. I know that lots of people like them, but I just end up laying there thinking of all the things I need to do.
  23. I love being outdoors. Whether it is running, hiking, paddle boarding, canoeing, etc., it’s my favorite. This is one of the things I was so excited about when I moved to North Carolina because we can enjoy these things longer throughout the year.
  24. I have Raynaud’s disease. Which if you don’t know what that is, it essentially is really poor circulation to your hands and feet so that they are pretty much always cold. It could be 100 degrees outside, and my hands could feel like ice to touch.
  25. I do not have a green thumb. I know nothing about plants, and its killing our curb appeal at our new house right now-help!
  26. Alex is a way better cook than me, but I am slowly learning. One of our first dates ever, I invited him over for dinner (I have no idea why I did this by the way…at this time in my life…I pretty much lived on Lean Cuisine) and I decided to make pasta. I went ahead and added chicken to it and I knew I should put some type of seasoning on it…so I went to the spice cabinet my roommate and I had and grabbed red pepper, not knowing that it had any spice to it and covered the meal with it. Needless to say, I spent our date sweating all over my food.
  27. The Bachelor franchise is my reality show weakness. I Can’t. Stop. Watching.
  28. I love Prosecco…always my drink of choice 🙂

Well, there you have it! Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know me a little more. What things do we have in common? Feel free to comment below, and tell me a little bit about yourself too. 🙂
