The changing of leaves, knee high boots, PSL galore, and over-sized sweaters…FALL HAS OFFICIALLY ARRIVED! Fall is my favorite time of year because there is so much to do, and so many great foods to eat! The weather is that perfect mix between hot and cold, and I have to say-the clothes are extra comfortable. I feel like I am wearing my pajamas around on most days, but they are actually professionally accepted clothing (insert leggings and over-sized dresses). Since Fall is my favorite time of year, I thought it would be fun to share with you my top 10 date ideas for this season.
- Build a Blanket Fort
One of Alex and my favorite things to do on a stay at home date night is to build a blanket fort. Well, he typically builds it, and I get the wine ready-hahah. But, he builds the fort so we can lay down in it and watch a movie (I would suggest Halloweentown to really get in the Fall mood). We get wine, movie snacks, and battery operated candles to go around the inside of the fort for a fun, playful, romantic night.
- Game Night
I cant even describe to you how much I love game night. Alex and I are both very competitive and have stepped up our collection of board games over the years. It is a great, cheap date night idea that you could do with just your signification other (there are plenty of two person games out there-Trouble, Sorry, Clue, etc.) or invite another couple friend or two over to join in the fun.
- Learn Something New
Whether it be dancing lessons, checking out a new fad-like Board and Brush (you get to create your own Wooden Board decor, similar to Wine and Canvas but you are creating a custom wood sign for your home), take a beer or cocktail making class, etc., it is always fun to have a new hobby to share with your significant other.
I feel like the Fall always brings plenty of fun festivals to town and it is a great way to liven up your weekend plans. Offline Raleigh + Durham, in the Triangle area, is always my go to for different events going on during the weekend. Even if you can’t find a festival going on locally, try looking for a concert, or a venue that has live music.
- Go to a Winery
I’m all about wine tastings, and there is just something about the Fall time that makes it even better. Check out some of your local wineries and even make a day-trip out of it by researching wineries farther out that you don’t usually get to. Sometimes, a little day-trip is exactly what you need.
Get your PSL on at a new coffee shop. One of the things Alex and I love to do is explore new coffee shops throughout the city, and sometimes you find a hidden gem. As much as I love my Starbucks, it is always nice to shop local.
- Go to a Football Game
Whether it is professional, college, or a local high school game, there is something about Fall nights under those stadium lights.
- Create Your Own Candles
This is something that I think is PERFECT for Fall. Instead of buying your Fall scented candles, why not make them yourself?! There are plenty of places that are now hosting candle making classes where you can learn how to make the perfect candle and take it home that day with you! What a great way to set up your house up for Fall!
- Fall Photo-shoot
Who doesn’t love Fall outfits the best? Well, may as well show off those cute boots and over-sized sweaters! I think a Fall photo-shoot date would be so much fun! There are so many naturally beautiful colors happening during the Fall time, that your pictures will turn out gorgeous. Alex and I did our engagement shoot during the Fall time, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Research some of the photographers in your area, and see if anyone is doing a mini-shoot for a discount, because many times during the Fall/ Winter seasons, you can even find deals on photo-shoots. Either way, it is a great way to get some new pictures of you and your person :).
- Weekend Getaway
The Fall time is the perfect opportunity for a little getaway. Scope out where near you has the most beautiful scenery to admire the trees changing and book away! I love renting cabins and being tucked away from the world. There is nothing better than a cabin in the woods overlooking the Fall trees, with a hot tub and a glass of wine in hand.
